25th Anniversary

HRH the Princess Royal, Princess Anne paid a wonderful visit to our group on Wednesday 29th March to celebrate our 25th anniversary. She was presented to the many civic guests, including Mr John Furness the High Sheriff and Mrs Grania Furness and Major John Townrow the military representative. Sam Orde, RDA Chairman presented our own Chair Julia Hamby and County Coach Claire Pope as well as other County and Regional RDA guests.
Then the riders performed two rides – the first was a Therapy ride who demonstrated part of the Countryside Challenge. Then the Knights of Bedale performed their musical ride with instructor Diane Radford.

This was an excellent example of working towards national competition and was particularly commented upon by Princess Anne. She then presented rosettes to all riders and long service medals to some of our ponies before meeting all our volunteers and giving Certificates to some.Miss Rachel Charlton who had travelled from Scotland, was presented to Princess Anne to receive her YELA Gold Award. Our mascot Little Alf and his owner were stars too.

Cake cutting was followed by a wonderful buffet tea and the whole day was a huge success which everyone enjoyed. Please see our Facebook page for photos and a link to the great news item from ITV. More photos and updates will appear here after the Easter holidays.
